Finding love through a new book club, a scrap of fallen paper, and telling time in cups of tea. When I move home from college, my friends had scattered. Luckily, I turn a corner to find a new coffee shop, a new book club, and engaging new friends. And through an accidental on-the-spot focus group, a gorgeous older boyfriend. Shane is unbelievably sweet with me, taking charge of every situation and caring for me almost aggressively. The way he touches me sends brand new tremors through every nerve. It’s shocking how much I crave his attention, and every single touch. I’ve never felt so close to anyone before. Those arms, thick from years of metalwork, make me feel so safe. But he doesn’t really seem like a people person with anyone else. Can I keep my overbearing family from ruining things? My snobby brother Glen has a way of getting in my business, and the huge family affair of his “pre-engagement” party is happening far too soon. I need to keep him and my father away from Shane, or at least make Glen stop calling my boyfriend the “scrapyard guy.” Meanwhile, I’m finishing my new stationery design project and getting the promotion I need to get my own place, while falling in love for the very first time. It will take a lot of tea and several pages in my new proto-type journals to figure this all out.
Brooke: I’m convinced happily ever after is a myth. Discovering my husband’s secrets has given me no choice but to take my daughter and start over. Unfortunately, that means living with my parents again. Just when I think life has stacked the deck against me, I run into Ryan. It’s been over a decade, but old feelings quickly reignite. The chemistry between Ryan and me is undeniable, and I’m left wondering if this is the way things were always meant to be. Ryan: After being a Marine for fourteen years, I move home to start a business with my brother. The last person I expect to walk through the door is the woman I let go. She’s the one I’ve never forgotten, and thoughts of her kept me going all these years. Now I have the chance to prove my worth to her, but will the odds be stacked against us?
Pregnant and alone. That’s not how I expected to end up after high school. Jake wants me back. But I don’t want that toxic relationship. We aren’t good together and this baby isn’t the reason we should work things out. Between work and school, I barely have time to figure out what I want to do. That is until I’m paired up with a hot guy in class for a project. He’s slowly working his way into my heart. But, I’m pregnant and trying to adjust to my new life. How can he actually be interested in me? With Jake home from college, he’s doubling his efforts. Especially now that he sees me with Reaf. I have decisions to make…and it’s not just about me anymore.
